Good morning,
Due to the continued forecast for snow, and the potential for hazardous road conditions throughout the day, all Serena Community Unit School District 2 schools (Serena High, Serena Middle, Harding Grade, and Sheridan Grade) will have an E learning day today, Tuesday, January 9. Students should follow instructions given to them by their school and teacher(s). This may be through Google Classroom and/or email for high school students. Good morning Serena,
I hope everyone has enjoyed their time with family and friends. This is a precautionary email for students. I am sure everyone has seen the impending weather forecast for tonight into tomorrow. With that in mind, if your chromebook is still here at school I am inviting you to come in today from now until 2:30 to pick up your chromebook if you are able. There is a possibility that tomorrow will be an E-Learning day and if so, you will need your chromebook at home. Again, this is a precautionary email and school is currently scheduled to begin tomorrow with students in the building. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you
Good afternoon,
This a friendly reminder that there is no school for students on Monday January 8th, due to a Teacher Institute Day. School resumes for students on Tuesday January 9th.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! We hope you enjoy the time with friends and family. Have a great holiday season.
The Serena hallways were filled with holiday cheer today. Mr. Pierce and some of his students played holiday themed music this morning for students as they arrived. Mrs. Brodbeck's classroom door is also decorated with holiday sweaters with a science twist. It was great to see!
Congratulations to Mackenzie Mancke who was honored last week as the recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) award. The ceremony took place at the Reddick Mansion in Ottawa. She was one of 6 recipients from schools surrounding the Illinois Valley region. Students selected as DAR Good Citizens must have the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. We are proud of you Mackenzie.
This morning we celebrated the December students of the month. These students exemplify what it mean to be a Husker. Thanks to all the members of the community that help support this breakfast recognition.

We wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. Serena is thankful for your support throughout the year and we hope your holiday is filled with joy.
Last night these students were inducted into Serena's chapter of the National Honor Society. Students are selected on the basis of four pillars: scholarship, character, leadership, and service. These students were chosen because they embody these pillars. Congratulations!
